“We are proud of the U.S. News ranking which reflects the dedication of our students, staff and administration,” said Michael Newman, Manual’s principal. “Together, we are committed to a continuous improvement process focused on our mission of Excellence, Diversity, and Tradition.”

In addition to Manual, five other JCPS high schools are ranked among the best in Kentucky – J. Graham Brown (#3), Atherton (#6), Male (#9), Ballard (#15) and Eastern (#23).

“While rankings don’t give a complete picture of the teaching and learning taking place in a school building, they are an independent acknowledgement of a culture and commitment that’s promoting student success,” said Dr. Marty Pollio, JCPS superintendent. “We’re proud of the recognition these schools have received from U.S. News.”

Two JCPS high schools also ranked among the top 100 magnet schools in country - Manual (#19) and Brown (#75).

U.S. News ranks high schools based on: students’ college readiness; state assessment test scores including those of underserved students; the number of students who take and gain qualifying scores on college credit exams and graduation rate.
