Course Offerings

  • YPAS Philharmonia (auditioned, advanced large ensemble)

  • Manual Concert Orchestra (auditioned, intermediate large ensemble)

  • Chamber Strings (for 10-12th grade YPAS Orchestra majors)

  • String Techniques (for 9th and transfer YPAS Orchestra majors)

  • Music Electives, including Music Theory I, and AP Music Theory

All Orchestra Applicants Should be Prepared to Play:

  1. The following major scale(s), ascending and descending, in the suggested key, rhythms and tempos;

  1. An orchestral excerpt (written for their specific instrument); 

  1. One solo piece of their choice (written for their specific instrument - selections from a concerto would be an excellent choice, for example);

  1. One short musical piece to sight-read.
