Student Uniform Policy

—Skirts, skorts, and jumpers can be purchased from Shaheen's or the Audubon used uniform sale.

—Other items may be purchased at any store as long as they meet uniform specifications.

—You can only wear articles listed on the uniform policy.

—Every Friday is Spirit Day; students may wear any uniform bottoms with an Audubon t-shirt.  

Uniform Policy

SLACKS

All slacks must meet uniform specifications as stated.

  • Twill fabric

  • Standard Uniform Slacks

  • Navy or Khaki

  • No denim material

  • No cargo

SHORTS

  • Must fall below fingertips when arms are extended

  • No cargo or capri

  • Same fabric and color as slacks

SKIRTS/JUMPERS

  • Plaid skirts with two options available: knife or box pleat

  • Plaid jumpers with two options available: pinafore jumper or box pleat jumper

  • Must fall below fingertips when arms are extended

  • Students MAY wear solid navy or khaki skirts or jumpers. 

SKORTS

  • Plaid skorts

  • MAY wear solid navy or khaki

  • Must fall below fingertips when arms are extended

SHIRTS

  • Long-sleeve or short-sleeve polo shirts with regular or button-down collars

  • Solid colors without logos: red, navy, white, or powder blue

TURTLENECKS

  • Solid color: red, navy, white or powder blue

  • Regular or Mock

  • Only worn if under a sweatshirt/polo or jumper/dress

SWEATERS

  • Colors: white, red or navy

  • Crew, cardigan or v-neck

  • Sweater vests must be solid color: red, navy, or white

  • Sweater must not fall below hips

SWEATSHIRTS/JACKETS

  • Solid colors: red or navy.

  • No jackets may be worn with logos

  • Jackets may be worn in building if these guidelines are met

  • White sweatshirts are reserved for 5th grade students only

SHOES

Closed-toe shoes with socks/leggings/tights

  • NO sandals of flip flops

  • NO mismatch shoes

  • NO light-up shoes may be worn unless they can be turned off

  • No Crocs or similar shoes

SOCKS

  • Solids colors of red, navy, white, black, or dark gray

LEGGINGS/TIGHTS

Worn under shorts, skirts, skorts or jumpers

  • Solids colors of red, navy, white, black, or dark gray

OTHER

  • Belts must be worn for students in grades 3-5. Solid colors: navy, black or brown. 

  • All shirts (except sweatshirts) must be worn with shirttails in

  • No unnatural hair colors (e.g. pink, orange, green, purple, blue, etc.)

  • Hair accessories may be worn, but may not distract from learning. (Ex: unicorn, cat, or puppy headbands) Bandanas may not be worn. Hair must not cover the eyes.

  • Audubon Traditional Elementary School approved Oxford style shirt, or Polo style shirt, solid colors with Audubon logo or no logo. Audubon Traditional Elementary School approved t-shirts may be worn on Fridays.

  • No hoodies may be worn during school.

  • Hats, caps, neck scarves, gloves, or sunglasses may not be worn in the school building. 

Procedures for Student Uniform/Dress Code Violations

Each violation counts as 1.

1st Violation/Warning

Teacher/Staff Member discusses violation with the student. A dress code violation form is sent home with the student informing the parent/guardian of the violation. Parent signs the form, keeps the yellow copy and returns the original to school. 

2nd Violation

Parents are notified by phone of dress code violation. A dress code violation form is sent home with the student informing the parent/guardian of the violation. Parent signs the form, keeps the yellow copy and returns the original to school. 

3rd Violation

Parents will be called to bring in a change of clothing. A dress code violation form is sent home with the student informing the parent/ guardian of the violation. Parent signs the form, keeps the yellow copy, and returns the original  to school. Excessive violations may be addressed on an individual basis.
