The Traditional Program began in 1976 as part of an effort to expand school choice and diversity. Families sought a challenging program with high expectations and structure. For more than 40 years, the Traditional Program has been a cornerstone of academic excellence in the JCPS community.

The Traditional Magnet Program offers a student-centered, rigorous academic curriculum within a highly structured learning environment, essential for fostering college and career readiness. It promotes student growth through high academic standards, responsible conduct, and character and leadership development, via community involvement. With a focus on core subjects, the program nurtures complex fhinkers, self-directed learners, and problem solvers striving for personal excellence in academics, character, and citizenship.
