Motto: One Focus

Mission: Learning for Life

Vision: Binet will empower all students to reach their full academic, social, behavioral, and functional potential to enable them to meaningfully participate in comprehensive schools and/or the community.

Structured Learning Environment Committed to Student Success

Binet's "one focus" is our students with moderate and significant disabilities. We believe every student has the potential to learn, grow, and succeed. We strive to serve the whole child in the development of knowledge and skills necessary to return to a comprehensive school.

Our Commitment

  • Serving students with disabilities: We provide a specialized learning environment for students with extensive support needs whose Admissions and Release Committee (ARC) determines the need for a special school with a highly structured and supportive setting.

  • Developing fundamental skills: We help students develop the skills they need for academic, behavioral, social, and functional growth.

  • Goal: We remain determined to reach the goal of returning each student to less restrictive environments in comprehensive schools.

Our Approach

  • Individualized programming: We offer a structured setting with individualized instruction in the Kentucky Academic Standards Alternate Assessment Targets, Functional Communication Training, Applied Behavior Analysis (Practical Functional Assessment, Skills Based Training, Universal Protocol), and Community-Based Instruction. We also teach social, functional, life, and work skills.

  • Collaborative team: Our staff works together as a transdisciplinary team, using evidence-based and High-Leverage Practices to ensure the best possible outcomes for our students. This collaborative approach allows us to tailor our support to each student's individual needs.

  • Data-driven decisions: We collect and analyze data to better understand each student's unique needs and to ensure they are learning in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). This data-informed approach helps us adjust our support and maximize student success.

  • Crisis intervention: Our trained staff provides safe crisis intervention services. We commit to a trauma-assumed approach with emphasis on building positive relationships with our students.

  • Community partnerships: We collaborate with community organizations to provide wrap-around services and comprehensive support, ensuring our students and families have access to the resources they need to thrive. These partnerships help us address the diverse needs of our community and create a network of support for each individual.
