PBIS and Houses

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

At Blake Elementary, we utilize the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system. PBIS is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. PBIS is designed to reduce/prevent problem behaviors and increase student well-being and academic success.

PBIS Behavior Matrix

At Blake, we have created a school-wide behavior matrix that highlights the positive behaviors we aspire to cultivate within our school community. Every student is encouraged to embrace these expectations each day. As a reward for embodying these positive behaviors, students will receive PBIS points through the PBIS app, which they can use to purchase exciting items or extra privileges in our PAWSitive Prize Place.

PAWSitive Prize Place

At Blake, we are proud to have a place where students eagerly look forward to visiting every month to purchase exciting items or extra privileges. This special place is our school store called the PAWSitive Prize Place. It is a vital part of our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) system. As a reward for embodying our school's positive behaviors, students will receive PBIS points through the PBIS app, which they can use to shop in our PAWSitive Prize Place each month.

We invite family members and community partners to join us in making a difference by volunteering to help operate our PAWSitive Prize Place. Your time and/or resources can keep our store filled with inspiring items for our students to enjoy.

If you're interested in being part of this rewarding experience, please reach out to our front office at 502-485-8210, and we will connect you with the PAWSitive Prize Place leaders!

House Systems at Blake

At Blake, we have implemented the Ron Clark Academy (RCA) House System. Every student and staff member is assigned to a House, fostering a sense of belonging, pride, and community.

House groups give students opportunities to work collaboratively, develop relationships, and establish a stronger connection to the school community. They help older students to develop into leadership roles. House activities and competitions encourage students to come together to support and cheer one another on while having fun and increasing a sense of belonging.

Student House Leaders and House Leader Lieutenants

At Blake, selected students proudly engage in our house system as Student House Leaders (fifth grade) or Student House Lieutenants (fourth grade). In these empowering roles, they work with the adult house leaders to actively plan school-wide House activities, leaving a lasting and meaningful impact on our school community.
