Garland S. Cochrane Elementary School was erected in 1968. It is located in the southeast section of Jefferson County, approximately five miles from Louisville, in the fourth-class city of Jeffersontown. It is named after Garland S. Cochrane, who was chairman of the Jefferson County School Board at the time. The school site comprises nine and one-half acres and contains a ten-sided, two-storied structure with a new state-of-the-art media center.
