Community Schools Programs

Farnsley Middle School offers two community programs—Community Schools, and the Youth Services Center. Community Schools offers services to the entire community during the summer and after school hours. These programs are designed to provide intergenerational, educational, social, cultural, and recreational activities for children of all ages and their families.

Farnsley's Community Schools programs offer a wide selection of activities including the following:

  • Summer Camp, which allows children to experience sports, art, and the great outdoors as well as to visit local attractions

  • Tutoring and Homework Help sponsored by The Chemical Partnership and ASRC

  • Karate

  • Adult and Continuing Education Classes

  • Blue Apple Players Theatrical Youth Group

  • Boy Scouts

  • The Music Box

  • Girl Scouts

  • Cooking and Nutrition Classes sponsored by American Synthetic Rubber Company (ASRC)

  • Summer Food Program

  • Summer Programs sponsored by The Chemical Partnership and ASRC

  • Family Fitness Classes

  • 4H: Wonder Girls, Fantastic Foods, Safe Sitter, 4-H Community Club, Sewing Club, Jefferson County 4-H Fair

  • International Club and Foreign Language Classes

  • Tech Smart Workshops sponsored by The Chemical Partnership and ASRC

  • Art Club

  • Drama Club

These organizations work through the JCPS Community Development/Governmental Relations Office (485-3834). The Community Schools Program is a partnership between JCPS and Louisville Metro Government.
