Dress Code Policy

As of 8/4/23 

Policy Statement

To provide all students with expectations for appropriate attire for an educational setting. The following guidelines have been established.

  • Shirts/sweatshirts - Any Oas Shirt May Be Worn on Any Day

No hoods are allowed.

  • Sweaters/cardigans - Solid navy or black with or without buttons.

  • Pants - Navy blue or black  pants or capris. Blue or black jeans.  OAS Joggers

No cuts/slits anywhere on pants. No cut off, ragged hems or cargo pants. No shorts, leggings, jeggings, or yoga pants.

  • Skirts - Plaid (gray/navy) skirts, solid black or navy blue skirts. If they are not knee length, they must  be worn with leggings or tights.  Skirts must have no cuts/slits anywhere on them. No writing or decorations. No cut off or ragged hems. 

  • Shoes - Sneakers with eyelets must have laces. Shoes must have a hard sole. Boots are allowed but cannot go above the knee. Slide in shoes, crocs, or house shoes are not allowed. All shoes must completely cover the toes and heels of the feet.

  • Purses - All purses must be no larger than  (5x7 inches) in size.

  • Coats/jackets/bookbags/backpacks/hats/gloves - Outerwear - such as coats, jackets (anything with zippers or snaps), hats, ear muffs, ear bands, must be removed after entering the building and stored in a locker.  

  • Sports Attire - Team uniform or warm up may be worn on game days, OAS Spirit days, or Dress Down Days. 

  • Head Coverings :- NO hats, hoods, bonnets, or bandanas may be worn at school. 

Uniform policy violations will be documented according to Olmsted Academy South’s Behavior Plan. Students must follow the JCPS behavior expectations as stated in the Student Support and Behavior Intervention Handbook (SSBIH).

The principal and/or designee have the final say on appropriate attire.

Dress Down Days

(Participation date and requirements will be announced prior to the event.)

Acceptable Dress Down Day Attire:

  • Capris, pants, or jeans (if pants have BIG rips/holes, must have leggings under them).

  • Shirts without holes, profanity, derogatory or violent images or phrases.

  • Shirts must have sleeves and must not expose the stomach or back area.

  • Skirts must be worn with leggings or tights (if not knee length). 

  • Shoes must have a back; no sandals, flip-flops, house shoes, slip-on shoes, crocs. Entire foot must be enclosed

  • No hoodies (unless a specific reward designated by the Principal)

Dress Up Days

(Participation date and requirements will be announced prior to the event.)

Acceptable Dress Up Day Attire:

  • Full length pants

  • Skirts must be of appropriate length (knee length).

  • Shirts or blouses must have sleeves and must not expose the stomach or back area.

  • Shoes must have a back; no sandals, flip-flops, house shoes, slip-on shoes, or Crocs. Entire foot must be enclosed.

  • No hoodies or sweatshirts

  • No inappropriate graphics or words.

The principal and/or designee have the final say on appropriate attire.

Rule to live by: If the item is questionable and you are not sure, don’t wear it! Choose something else.
