The themes of our Afrocentric Framework use driving questions to help our students see themselves, their histories, and the world around them through multiple perspectives.
Gender-Specific
Many gender-specific research-based strategies are utilized to remove barriers and empower student voice and agency. These strategies and instructional practices create active learning and social-emotional growth.
STEAM
STEAM is embedded through collaboration, creativity, communication, and critical thinking. Each learning space is interdisciplinary, by exposing students to STEAM career exploration and real world application.
Rigor
With an academic approach focused on teaching at high levels and scaffolding for students to meet standards and expectations; every student will be provided, personalized, rigorous and progressive learning environment.

As an Explore Pathway school, GEMS experience career pathways around Engineering, Health Sciences, and Data Science through hands-on STEAM courses each semester.
Interdiscplinary Learning
EVERY classroom at Grace James Academy incorporates key elements of STEAM to ensure that GEMS (Girls Excelling in Math and Science) gain skills that prepare them for STEAM related fields.
Learning Beyond the CROWN
GEMS learn beyond the classroom through multiple hands-on STEAM field trips each year. These experiences allow them to gain insight into many different STEAM careers and opportunities.

Career Pathway
This Health Science CTE pathway will lead students to Dual Credit opportunities and industry certifications while understanding the impact health professionals have on the world. In addition, internships and co-ops with community partnerships will provide hands-on real-world experiences.
Engineering
Career Pathway
This Engineering CTE pathway will expose students to a multitude of engineering fields as well as Dual Credit and engineering preparatory courses in collaboration with local universities and colleges. Along with opportunities for co-ops with engineering professionals.
Business/Informatics
Career Pathway
This Business/Informatics CTE pathway will show students how numbers analysis and Data impact the world they live in while providing opportunities for Dual Credit and industry certifications.
