Attendance is important! If you were unaware, House Bill 611 passed in April 2024, and requires school officials to file a complaint against a parent or guardian of a child who has missed more than 15 days of school without an excuse. This data will be shared every two weeks with the county attorney beginning Oct. 1.
We will receive more guidance on this and how the district plans to proceed, however in the meantime, we've been directed to have school attendance teams need to closely monitor student attendance using the School Attendance Dashboard. Any student who currently has 3 or more unexcused absences at this time are potentially on track to be chronically absent.
Chronic absenteeism can significantly hinder students' academic and social progress.
