The Jeffersontown High School Youth Services Center (YSC) is located at 9600 Old Six Mile Lane. The center serves families living in the Jeffersontown area and its student population. 

A little about Us

Welcome to J-town’s Youth Services Center! We service both our students and our parents. If we don’t know the answer, we’ll do our best to find out one.
YSC’s are funded by the state of Kentucky. Our center employs 1 Coordinator. An Advisory Council made up of community, parents, JHS faculty, and students oversee the operations and budget of our YSC and meets regularly throughout the school year. We serve students and parents who need help with overcoming issues that effect a student’s performance inside the classroom. Whether it be attendance or academic issues, or seeking help for school supplies or clothing or shoes, or needing referrals for substance/mental abuse or health/social service referrals or looking for a part-time job – give us a call! We are here to serve!

What is a Youth Service Center

Family Resource and Youth Services Centers (FRYSCs) opened in schools throughout the commonwealth as part of the Kentucky Education Reform Act of 1990. Their purpose is to promote student success in school by helping families overcome obstacles that might otherwise prevent student learning. The goal of the Jeffersontown Charger YSC is to promote young people's progress toward capable and productive adulthood by assisting them in recognizing their individual, community, and family strengths.

Who may use the Jeffersontown Charger YSC?

The Jeffersontown Charger YSC receives a state grant based upon the number of students within the school who receive free school meals. However, once the YSC has been established, all students, their families, and all other local community residents are eligible to use the services of the center, regardless of family income. Services are very beneficial for students who are not performing well in school.

What services does the Jeffersontown Charger YSC provide?

The Jeffersontown Charger YSC provides programs, referrals, and services in the following areas: academic development, adult education, child development, clothing, employment counseling and training, family crisis counseling, food and nutrition, government social services agencies, health services, mental-health counseling referrals, mentoring/job-shadowing programs, parenting-support groups, and substance-abuse counseling and prevention.
