Academic Programs
In-School Extended School Services (ESS)
Stopher has a team of dedicated support personnel to meet the needs of all learners. This program provides flexible instructional support to any student who needs extra help during the school day.
Advance Program
the advance program is for fourth and fifth grade students who excel academically. This program provides accelerated instruction and is a district-wide designation. Students are identified using
GPA, MAP scores, and teacher input.
Gifted and talented
Gifted/talented is a statewide program for selected students in fourth and fifth grade and is available in five different categories:
General Intellect, Specific Academic, Creativity, Leadership, and Visual/Performing Arts.
Primary Talent Pool
Primary talent Pool is for students in grades kindergarten through third grade who are high academic achievers. Students in this program receive differentiated instruction and accelerated learning opportunities.
English as a Second Language (ESL)
The ESL Program at Stopher provides additional instructional support to students identified by jcps as Multilingual Learners. Students work with the ESL teacher during the school day to further develop academic English in the 4 domains of language: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
Special Education Services
Exceptional Child Education (ECE) programs are designed to meet the needs of students who have educational disabilities. A range of programs, techniques, methods, and materials is available for individualized instruction provided by special education teachers. Related services providers (Speech, ot, Pt, VI) are available to students if needed to access special education programming.
