Purpose

The Kid Connection Family Resource Center (FRC) serves both Audubon Traditional and Camp Taylor Elementary Schools. It is available to the parents and families of all students who attend either of these two schools.

FRCs provide services that are very different from traditional social service programs. FRCs are designed to provide families with access to the information and support necessary to strengthen family and community life to enhance the health, growth, and the development of children. Centers are based on the concept that not only children, but also parents grow, develop, and need nurturing . FRCs meet the needs of both by providing new opportunities for education and support. FRCs seek to provide child and parent care.

Mission

To promote the flow of resources and support to families in ways that strengthen their functioning by enhancing the growth and development of individual members and the family unit, delivering children ready to learn by removing non-academic barriers to education.

History

The Family Resource Center was created as part of the Kentucky Education Reform Act (KERA) to provide information and/or referrals to families in the Camp Taylor and Audubon Traditional Elementary School communities. Due to the many barriers to a child's success in school, the center ensures that needed resources and support are available to remove any obstacles. The center aims to work with parents, community partners, and other stakeholders to enhance our students' lives and educational experiences. By working together, we strive to replace educational barriers with bridges of opportunity, hope, and success.

Get Involved

The Family Resource Center needs your support! Your involvement can make a significant difference in the lives of our students and families.

How can you help?

  • Join the Advisory Council: Provide input and guidance to help shape the center's direction. The Advisory Council is made up of parents, staff members from both schools, and community members who make decisions about the center.

The council meets every other month starting in September and is open to the public.
