Do You Have Your ILP Completed?

What does the ILP have to do with scheduling for next year?  LOTS!  The ILP can help you choose elective classes that will support the goals that you have set for yourself!  Make sure that you complete your ILP before you submit your schedule requests for the coming year.

To navigate to your ILP - go to Clever/pathful Explore/flex Lessons

You will need to complete the work in each tile that you have on your screen.

Freshmen & Sophomores have three tiles

Juniors & Seniors have four tiles

As you complete the work in each tile - it will disappear from your screen!

Is Your Social Security Number On File?

Why does Central need your SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER? It's all because of KEES.  The Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship is money set aside for students who earn an annual grade point average of 2.5 or higher.  For each year that you maintain an annual 2.5 grade point average, the Commonwealth of Kentucky will set aside money into your KEES account for students to use at after their high school graduation.

You have the opportunity to take DUAL CREDIT CLASSES as a rising sophomore, junior or senior.  To do this - you need your Social Security Number on file to create your KHEAA/KEES account.  This is the group that provides the scholarship dollars to cover the cost of your classes.

It is important that you know what kind of dual credit class you are taking and what university partner is providing the credit.  All of these details will be provided at the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year. But These Details Are Super Important!

Graduating Early?

Students have various reasons for wanting to cut their high school years short.  And while we would like every one of our students to stay with us and take advantage of all of the magnet opportunities, we know that our students have many reasons why they want to take advantage of graduating early. It is good to know that students have options!

There are two types of early graduation that we put under the "early graduation" umbrella --

1. Seniors who want to graduate at the end of their first semester as a senior (mid-year grads)

2. Juniors who want to graduate at the end of their second semester as a junior (early grads)

Be sure that you have all the facts especially as you build your schedule for the 2024-2025 school year!  Just click on the option that fits your situation best!

Gold IDs & Platinum IDs

Did you know that special privileges come with a gold or platinum ID?  They do!  Free admission to Central sporting events, school dances and Yellow Jacket popups just for starts. What do you need to do to earn them?  You need to be Post Secondary ready.  Here's what that involves (you only need ONE)

  1. Career Ready:  pass the End of Program Exam through your magnet class.

  2. Academic Ready:  meet ONE ACT Benchmark

English 18

Math - 19

Reading - 20

Science - 23

  1. Earn the grade of a C or higher in a dual credit class.

Transcripts

Your high school transcript is the place where all of your semester grades are posted. Your transcript tells you how many credits you have earned, what your cumulative (total) grade point average (weighted and unweighted), and a list of individual classes you took and the grades that you earned.  There is a LOT of information on your transcript.

Be aware of these credit thresholds

Students must earn

  • 5 credits to be a sophomore

  • 11 credits to be a junior

  • 16 credits to be a senior

  • 22 to graduate (of course they all have to be in the right categories)

BTW - students at Central have the opportunity to earn 8 credits each year!
