General Cafeteria Information
The Field cafeteria serves a tasty, nutritious breakfast and lunch each day for students and adults. As part of the Community Eligibility (CE) Program, all Field students—regardless of income—may receive a free breakfast and lunch daily for the entire school year. Students are provided a 20-minute lunch period each day.
(Update: currently there are no school visitors for lunch due to Covid 19 mitigation strategies)
Cafeteria Rules
Students will enter and exit the cafeteria in a safe and orderly manner.
Students will remain seated at their assigned tables.
Students are free to converse with their tablemates but should not interact with students in other classes.
Students will not run or engage in horseplay of any kind in the cafeteria.
Students should not share food for safety reasons, such as food allergies.
Students should not bring carbonated drinks to school for breakfast or lunch.
Food Allergies
Students with food allergies that affect a vital life function are permitted to request meal modifications when a medical authority completes a USDA-required form. Forms are available from the school Nutrition Services manager and must be completed and signed by a physician. Items specifically listed on medical referral forms by a physician as a life-threatening allergen will be noted in the student’s record and withheld from that student’s meal service. Due to the possibility of residual contamination or cross-contamination of allergens and non-allergens, and the ability of manufacturers to omit small percentage ingredients in ingredient listings, it is impossible to guarantee an allergen-free environment. Parents and Nutrition Services staff are encouraged to make the school office aware of all students’ allergies.
Student Birthday Celebrations
At Field, we know that student birthdays are a special time. We enjoy recognizing them, but birthday parties are best conducted at home. Balloons and other decorations are not permitted. If you would like to help your child celebrate a birthday at school, you are welcome to bring a store-bought treat to share with your child’s class during lunch time. Please contact the teacher or the school office to find out the number of students in your child’s class prior to bringing in treats. This will ensure every student receives a treat! Treats should be selected according to the USDA Smart Snack Guidelines. It is only permissible for a student to distribute birthday party invitations at school if all students, all girls, or all boys in the class are invited to the party. If you have any questions about the distribution of invitations, please contact the school office.
