McFerran Preparatory Academy Compact

I, as a school staff member/teacher, will:

  • Provide high-quality, rigorous, "best practices" instruction daily.

  • Use student achievement and growth data to make instructional decisions and to address the diverse learning styles of students.

  • Communicate positively and in a timely manner with parents and keep them informed of their child's progress.

  • Provide a positive learning environment for all students to experience success.

  • Welcome parents as parnters in the education of their child.

  • Participate in professional-development experiences that continue to improve classroom instruction.

I, as a family member/parent, will:

  • Ensure that my child attends school regularly and on time.

  • Support McFerran Preparatory Academy and offer ideas on how to improve the education process.

  • Provide a safe and positive place for my child to do his or her homework.

  • Welcome teachers as partners in the education of my child.

  • Participate in opportunities to learn about the school, needed services, and ways to support my child.

  • Talk with my child daily about his or her school experience.

I, as a student, will:

  • Attend school regularly and on time.

  • Support McFerran Preparatory Acadmey and ask for help when needed.

  • Complete homework on time.

  • Welcome teachers and parents as partner while they work to help me achieve.

  • Participate in school activities and always try my best.

  • Talk with my parent(s)/guardian(s) daily about my school experience.

Safety

  • Walk within the building.

  • Pick up items off of the floor.

  • Maintain a clear work space.

  • Remain in your assigned area.

  • Report problems to an adult.

Ownership

  • Take responsibility for your actions.

  • Clean up after yourself.

  • Pay attention and participate appropriately.

  • Be on time and prepared.

  • Restart your day when needed.

Academics

  • Be ready to share what you learned.

  • Ask questions at appropriate times.

  • Reflect on what you learned for the day.

  • Stay on task and engaged in the task.

  • Maintain a growth mindset.

  • If you don't know, ask, and learn a new skill.

Respect

  • Keep your hands, feet, objects, and negative comments to yourself.

  • Remain positive.

  • Be patient.

  • Use appropriate language.

  • Handle materials with care.

  • Be kind, fair, and honest.

  • Respect other's privacy.
