Bottoms
Accepted
Uniform pants or shorts, cargo pants or shorts, skirts or skorts, capris, jumpers
Cotton blend/twill type material
Solid colors: khaki, black, or navy blue
Skirts, skorts, shorts, and jumpers must be no more than 2 inches above the knee. Girls are encouraged to wear shorts under their skirts or jumpers.
Not Accepted
No denim of any kind (no jeans)
No logos of any kind
No other colors except for khaki, black, or navy blue
No bell bottoms, stretch pants, jogging suit pants, or sweatpants
Shirts
Accepted
Collared shirts (knit polo or oxford shirts)
Short or long sleeves
Polo and oxford shirts can be any solid color.
Wellington polos and T-shirts may be worn at any time.
Not Accepted
No logos except for Wellington Elementary logos
No other types of polos or T-shirts can be worn.
Sweaters/Sweatshirts/Vests
Accepted
Cardigan or pullover sweaters/sweatshirts (V-neck or rounded neck)
A turtleneck or collared shirt must be worn underneath sweaters or vests.
Sweaters, sweatshirts, and vests can be any solid color.
Wellington sweatshirts may be worn at any time.
Not Accepted
No zippered or hooded sweatshirts/jackets
No jogging suits or nylon wind suits
No logos expect Wellington Elementary logos
Shoes/Socks/Stockings/Tights
Accepted
Enclosed sneakers and shoes
Socks, tights, or stockings must be worn at all times.
Not Accepted
No open-toed or open-back shoes (including sandals, flip-flops, Crocs, clogs, jellies, etc.)
No Heelys or similar types of shoes
In addition to the dress code guidelines previously mentioned, please observe the following expectations:
Belts must be worn, and shirttails must be tucked neatly into pants/bottoms.
Outer garments (jackets, coats, etc.) may not be worn after the beginning of the school day at 9:05 a.m.
Regular dress code attire is required for all field trips unless otherwise noted.
Body art and tattoos (real or fake) are not permitted.
Students may be asked to remove earrings, necklaces, bracelets, other jewelry, or any other items that become a distraction in the classroom. If students are asked to remove these items, they must give them to their teacher, who will turn the items in to the office. Parents must come to the school to pick up the items at their convenience.
Consequences
Students not in compliance with the dress code will be asked to (1) correct the violation in the classroom, or (2) they will be sent to the Family Resource Center (FRC) to correct the violation. If the violation cannot be corrected in the FRC, parents will be notified of the violation. Repeated dress code violations will require a parent conference with an office administrator or designee. Any dress code concerns that fall outside of the scope of the School-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council-approved dress code will be handled on an individual basis by school administrators.
