Scholarships Available for Dual-Credit Courses Sponsored by KHEAA Dual-Credit Scholarships
Every high school student in Kentucky is eligible for two Dual-Credit Scholarships from the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA). This scholarship program will pay for a total of two dual-credit courses during a student’s junior and/or senior years in high school. Students must be a resident of Kentucky, be accepted into an approved dual-credit course by the collegiate institution, and complete a 30-minute college success counseling session each year. Once a student utilizes these two scholarships, students may continue to take dual credit courses at a discounted price of 2/5 of the Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS) tuition rate ($91 per credit hour in the 2022-23 school year).
Every high school student in Kentucky is eligible for two dual-credit Work-Ready Scholarships from KHEAA. This scholarship program will pay for two dual-credit Career Technical Education (CTE) courses every year of high school.
Students must be a resident of Kentucky, and be accepted into an approved dual-credit course offered by a collegiate institution that is recognized in a career pathway by the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE). Once these scholarships are completed each year, students may continue to take dual-credit CTE courses at a discounted price of 2/5 of the KCTCS tuition rate ($91 per credit hour in the 2021-22 school year).
Butler CTE courses that are eligible for the Work Ready Scholarship include the following. The Learning Community, the Learner-Centered Classroom and The Professional Educator, Principles of Accounting, Principles of Marketing, and Introduction to Management are offered in partnership with UofL. Internet Technologies, Computational Thinking, Web Development, Personal Finance, and Medicaid Nurse Aide are offered through JCTC.

Seniors who are interested in earning high school credit through cooperative education (co-op) experiences have the opportunity to co-op through the United Parcel Service (UPS) School-to-Work Program. Students must meet a 2.5 GPA requirement and make a yearlong commitment to work part-time at UPS. UPS interviews and selects students. Students co-op during fourth through seventh periods. Students in the UPS School-to-Work Program will be enrolled in a college course in both the fall and spring semesters through JCTC. This course will be paid for by UPS. Students involved in any School-to-Work Program (co-op) who, after the first six weeks of school, will be placed in online courses.
JCTC is committed to opening doors and supporting students in becoming college-ready. Through a program called Accelerate to College (A2C), eligible juniors and seniors have the opportunity to take a preparatory course in English and/or math, earn dual credit in English and/or math and upon successful completion earn a two-year scholarship to JCTC. The A2C Scholarship can be applied to any
program at JCTC. (Refer to the Jefferson Pledge for specific information.)
Students are selected for the A2C program based on GPA, MAP scores and attendance. This program is divided into two content areas, and students can participate in one or both areas. The first content area is English and is a two-year program. Eligible juniors will take Developmental English 096 and then senior year take English 101 and English 102. These students will earn a total of six college credit hours prior to graduating high school. (The Dual-Credit Scholarship can cover the cost of these courses.) The second content area is math. This is a one-year program. Eligible seniors will take Developmental Math 61 for the first semester and then will take either Contemporary Math 146 or College Algebra 150 for the second semester. These students will earn a total of three college credit hours prior to graduating high school.

Butler is one of a select group of high schools that are partnering with the University of Louisville (UofL) in offering the Cardinal Bridge Academy (CBA). CBA offers eligible juniors and seniors the opportunity to enroll in business courses for dual credit. These online courses will be taught by UofL instructors. Enrolled students will earn a minimum of six college credit hours and will earn admission into U of L’s School of Business, access to mentoring, and internships with corporate partners. Possible courses offered include Principles of Accounting, Introduction to Management, and Principles of Marketing. Students must meet UofL’s requirements.
The Work-Ready Dual Credit Scholarship can cover the cost of these courses.
