Troubleshooting Common Issues

If your Chromebook is going slow, apps not working properly, make sure to UPDATE your Chrome Operating System.

If something on your Chromebook stops working properly like the camera, touchpad, or keyboard:

Perform a Powerwash

  1. Sign out of your Chromebook.

    • Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r.

    • Select Restart.

    • In the box that appears, select Powerwash. Continue.

    • Follow the steps that appear and sign in with your Google Account.

If your Chromebook isn’t charging, or not turning on, please check the following items: 

  1. Check all power connections. Remove any power strips and surge protectors then connect the ac power adapter directly to the ac power outlet. 

  2. Inspect the AC power adapter. Check for any physical damage, and make sure that the power cable is firmly attached to the adapter brick and to the Chromebook. 

  3. Verify the AC power source is working by something else into the outlet, like a lamp.

If your Chrome browser, interent sites or website programs are not running/loading properly: 

Check your internet connnection first.  Be sure you are connected.  

  1. At the top right, click the stop light (three dots)> Settings 

  2. Click Reset settings > Restore settings to their original defaults and then Reset settings.

If your Chromebook is frozen or still won't power on, Perform a Hard Reset:

  1. Plug into power

  2. Press and hold the refresh button

  3. While holding refresh, tap the power button once

  4. Let go of refresh if the device boots (15-20 seconds)
