ABOUT THE ACADEMIES AT SENECA
As an Academies of Louisville school, Seneca is committed to connecting our classrooms to community, college, and career, thereby increasing student engagement and achievement. To accomplish this, we
engage students with meaningful and relevant content;
provide students with real skills for the real world;
guide students in career discovery and career exploration;
foster relationships and connections among students, staff, community, college, and career; and
empower students by offering hands-on, real-world learning experiences with our more than 30 community and business partners
All incoming 9th graders join our Freshman Academy and take a Freshman Academy seminar course called 101 (Career Choices). It is a course designed to both (1) start preparing students for postsecondary education; and (2) expose them to a vertical segment of the occupations, from entry-level to advanced, within a career field, encouraging students to aim as high as they wish. During 101, students will apply to join a pathway in one of our 3 career Academies: Agri-science & Leadership Academy, Health Science Academy, and Innovate Academy. There are 5 pathways in the Agri-science and Leadership Academy including: Animal/Veterinary Science, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Ag Power, and Education & Training. There are 3 pathways in the Health Science Academy including: Patient-Care Tech, Pre-Nursing, and Pre-Nursing. There are 3 pathways in the Innovate Academy: Business, Computer Programming and 3D Printing, and Law. A summary of these Academies is provided below.
