JCPS employees participate in either the Kentucky Teachers' Retirement System (KTRS) or the County Employees Retirement System (CERS). The applicable mandatory plan is determined by the employee's job classification.

KTRS

Certified teaching employees of the district and other employees whose positions require at least a bachelor's degree are provided pensions through KTRS.
