School to Work (STW) Early College Program
School at Work (SAW) Early College Program
Transition Learning Center (TLC) Post Secondary Transition
Requirements to Participate in all three Programs:
Seniors only
GPA 2.0 or higher
Acceptable attendance - 90% attendance rate
Ability to participate in early release
Recommendation from Principal/Counselor
School To Work - STW Early College (Traditional)
Students attend high school in the morning, work and take college classes in the afternoon.
Three parts to STW:
School: Attend high school morning classes w/ early release time
Work: Work at UPS as part time package handler 4-5 hours
College:Enroll in a College Class one day a week at UPS facility
School at Work - SAW Early College (Online eSchool)
Students report directly to the UPS facility and take their high school/college course online and work. This opportunity is full time at UPS facility students will not be attending his/her high school. They will meet with his/her high school on a scheduled day once a month (typically a Friday).
Three parts to SAW:
Dual enrollment between current high school and Jefferson County HS.
Take Online E-School Courses Online or at the UPS Facility
Work at UPS as part time package handler 4-5 hours - start time @ 10:30 AM
Enroll in a College Class one day a week at UPS facility
Transitional Learning Center - TLC (Options Unlimited) Post Secondary Transition
Exceptional Child Education students are nominated by their teacher to receive on job training as a package handler for postsecondary transition skills.
Requirements and benefits of Program:
Students must have a recommendation from the Principal or Counselor and ECE Teacher.
Students attend a two week pre-employment paid training program that is staffed and operated by UPS training supervisors and Options Unlimited job coaches. The training is approximately four (4) hours.
Work Experience provides team building, safe work methods, soft skills, and hands on practice
Work Experience is instrumental in building a culture of inclusion and best practices for people with disabilities through leadership, support, and training.
