Eastern High School presented a banner to celebrate the school's new designation
On Friday, Eastern High School was named a Special Olympics National Unified Champion School. The designation recognizes Eastern students' participation with the Special Olympics and Special Olympics athletes.
"It just tells you what a great culture we have here," Eastern principal Dr. Heather Orman said about her school earning a title, which only, roughly, 200 schools nationwide can claim.
Eastern was also named to ESPN's Honor Roll, which recognizes one National Unified Champion School banner recipient per state.
