The principal of Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS)’ state agency schools is moving to a new job in the high school office. Heather Moss will become the new Executive Administrator of High Schools in June, after finishing the school year as a principal.
“Ms. Moss brings 26 years of diverse experience to the high school team,” said Dr. Joseph Ellison, assistant superintendent of high schools. “In her time supporting 13 state agency schools, Ms. Moss has fostered many community connections and has solidified her commitment to ensuring that all students graduate prepared for life after high school regardless of their circumstance or school setting. I am confident she will continue our work in supporting high school leaders in maximizing outcomes for students.”
Moss began her JCPS career in 1997 as a teacher, became an academic instructional coach, assistant principal at Olmsted Academy South and principal at Waller-Williams Environmental School before heading the state agency schools.
“I am extremely grateful for the experience I gained and the people I worked with as the state agency schools’ principal,” Moss said. “Yet, I am excited for the opportunity to continue my work alongside a great team of high school leaders. I eagerly embrace this new path, striving for excellence and continuous improvement as I support the high school mission of ensuring EVERY student graduates post-secondary ready.”
Moss has been recognized for her school leadership with a Hilliard Lyons Excellence Award, Milburn T. Maupin School Administrator’s Award and a Baird Excellence Award, among others. She has an English degree from the University of Louisville, a master’s in teaching and two Rank I certificates from Bellarmine University.
