Scentsy Family Foundation donates $53,000

Scentsy Family Foundation Children. Families. Communities.May 9, 2023—A new $53,000 donation from the Scentsy Family Foundation has eliminated 80 percent of school meal debt held by Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) families, reducing the balances of 1,075 student accounts.

The foundation’s generous gift will help JCPS continue to ensure all students receive nutritious meals, regardless of their ability to pay.

“We believe happy, healthy families build vibrant communities, and we want to help ensure that hungry children have access to at least one meal during the day,” said Kellie Floto, Scentsy Director of Philanthropy and Community Relations. “We challenged Scentsy Consultants across the U.S. to support their local school districts, and we hope this contribution sparks more donations from businesses or individuals.”

The majority of JCPS schools qualify for the federal Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program, which allows schools to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to all students. However, JCPS has nine non-CEP schools where some students must pay for meals if they do not qualify for free lunch based on household income.

The Scentsy Family Foundation’s donation will help JCPS keep more funding in the classroom rather than covering delinquent meal costs.
