An Oldham County school principal is returning to the district where he cut his teeth as a teacher in 2005. Dr. Ryan Rodosky has been named the new principal at Bowen Elementary School. Rodosky has been the principal at Goshen Elementary for the past five years.
“I am excited and honored to join the Bowen Elementary community as the new principal,” Rodosky said. “I can't wait to get started and work together to create a nurturing environment where our students can grow, learn, and thrive.”
Rodosky spent 14 years of his career as a teacher, assistant principal and principal at Frederick Law Olmsted Academy North in Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS). He took the principal job in Oldham County in 2019. Those years of experience leading schools will serve him well at Bowen, according to Dr. Jessica Rosenthal, JCPS assistant superintendent of elementary schools Zone 3.
“Dr. Rodosky is a great addition to the Bowen community and will quickly become a familiar face in the car rider line, in classrooms and hallways, and at school events,” Rosenthal said. “With his commitment to academic excellence and an inclusive, supportive environment, I am confident that Dr. Rodosky will serve Bowen well.”
Rodosky has degrees from three different Kentucky universities including a Masters of Education and a Doctor of Education from the University of Louisville. As the principal at Olmsted North, Rodosky won a Hilliard Lyons Principal Excellence Award and a Kentucky Department of Education Best Practices Award. At Goshen, students scored in the highest category on the Kentucky Summative Assessment statewide test. Now, Rodosky said he’s ready to bring what he’s learned to Bowen students and families.
“My commitment to students and families is simple: I will always strive to do what is best for kids and to work alongside you as partners to ensure that every child is known, valued, and loved,” Rodosky said. “Here’s to an amazing journey ahead, filled with new opportunities and shared successes!”
Former JCPS principal Alecia Dunn will be serving as the interim principal until Rodosky transitions to his new job at Bowen.
