Attention Families

Please monitor your mail, as stipend checks have started going out. Families with multiple stipend-eligible students will receive separate checks for each student. Checks are mailed in batches according to school groups.

Check mailing dates for August and September attendance days:

Group 1: October 22, 2024
Group 2: October 26, 2024
Group 3: October 29, 2024

To receive payments for November, you must opt-in for stipend payments through the JCPS Transportation Portal and complete your PaymentWorks registration* (if applicable) by October 31.

*If you have ever received a payment from JCPS in the past (i.e., Early Childhood stipends, an employee reimbursement, or currently receiving a JCPS paycheck), you will not receive the PaymentWorks email because you are already a JCPS vendor and do not need to complete this step.

Getting Started

Qualifying for, applying for, and receiving the stipends is a multi-step process. If you are eligible and want to receive a stipend, follow the steps below.

By the time you complete the process of signing up for the Transportation Stipend, you will have received at least five emails from JCPS or PaymentWorks, the vendor with whom we are working. There may be additional emails to you if more information or clarifications are needed during the process.

Opting in for Stipend Payments

Step 1

If you have a stipend-eligible student, you can begin the signup process now by accessing the Stipend Invitation Request through the  JCPS Transportation Portal.

Step 2

When you reach the Transportation Portal, click “Login with Parent Place Account” and use your Parent Place credentials, or “Login Parent/Guardian using Phone Number/Email”.

If you select "Login Parent/Guardian using Phone Number/Email", be sure you log in with the same email on file in Infinite Campus. Do not log in with your phone number. Doing so will prevent you from seeing the option to opt-in for the stipend.

Step 3

After you log in, read and agree to the terms and conditions before proceeding.

Please also ensure the email address on file is correct. This is where all future correspondence relating to the stipend application process will be sent. If your email address needs to be corrected, update it in the email field on the Stipend Invitation Request page. You will also need to contact your child’s school to have them update the information in Infinite Campus.

After submitting your request, you'll receive an invitation email from PaymentWorks. This email will contain important instructions on how to proceed with the registration process.

Registering for the Stipend

Onboarding with PaymentWorks

When PaymentWorks receives the signup information, the parent or guardian who filled out the form will receive an email from PaymentWorks with steps to continue the process.

Step 1

The email from our vendor, PaymentWorks, will invite you to create a PaymentWorks account and register for a vendor number. You will need a vendor number to receive payments.

JCPS has developed step-by-step instructions on completing the PaymentWorks registration process. If you do not receive this email or cannot activate your account within the 72-hour activation window, you can resend the activation email to yourself.

Note: If you have ever received a payment from JCPS in the past (i.e., Early Childhood stipends, an employee reimbursement, or currently receiving a JCPS paycheck), you will not receive the PaymentWorks email because you are already a JCPS vendor and do not need to complete this step.

Step 2

After completing PaymentWorks Registration, you will see a pop-up message stating that your submission was successful.

example of successful submission screen

PaymentWorks will email you after you complete your registration. You can also log in to PaymentWorks and review the Customer Status section on your account's home page. This message indicates that your registration has been submitted to JCPS.

Your registration status is now reflected as In Review within the PaymentWorks Customer Status section on your account's home page.  The subsequent communication will be emailed when your application has been approved and a parent vendor number has been assigned to you.

Step 3

Getting onboarded into the payment system could take a week or more. You'll receive a confirmation email from PaymentWorks upon JCPS approval.

Reminder: Check your email for additional information requests and/or confirmation that your registration has been processed through JCPS.

Additional Tips

You can check your status on PaymentWorks. If you see Registration Approved on the homepage, you've been assigned a vendor number used by JCPS for payments. No further action is needed.

This onboarding process could take a bit longer if:

  • We have difficulty matching your Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) or Social Security Number (SSN) with the IRS.

  • More than one guardian signs up to receive stipends for the same student.

  • You sign up a week or more after your initial invitation was sent.

Information Required for Registration

To register with PaymentWorks, you'll need to provide:

  • Your email address

  • Your Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)

  • Your current mailing address

  • An internet connection

  • A copy of your most recent W9 form (optional)

No Access to a Computer or Internet?

If you don't have access to a computer or the internet, you can:

  • Use your child's Chromebook after school.

  • Visit a library to use a computer there. Remember to log out completely when you're finished.

  • Ask your child's school for assistance.

Stipend payments will be made four times a year by group, with specific check mailing dates for each group. After the August and September payments, retroactive payments for prior months will not be made. Payment calculations will start the day after registration is completed in PaymentWorks and will be prorated until the end of the attendance months being processed for pay.
