
NATIONAL AMERICORPS WEEK | Through the Department of Student Support Services and the Office of Community Support Services, JCPS has proudly operated the AmeriCorps REACH Corps program for 15 years. REACH Corps members serve at elementary and middle schools, supporting students who show early signs of disengagement. Our goal is to help students reach their full academic potential and graduate on time.

BLACK HISTORY WAX MUSEUM | Portland Elementary School celebrated Black history this week with a Living Wax Museum. Fifth grade students chose a Black figure to research and portray for the day!

STATE OF THE DISTRICT | Superintendent Dr. Marty Pollio delivered his seventh and final State of the District address today at The Olmsted.
Thanks to the generosity of many, the event helped raise more than $65,000 for the JCPS Community Scholarship Fund, which supports graduating JCPS seniors!

🏥 HOSPITAL TOUR | Grace M. James Academy of Excellence students got a hands-on tour today of the new Norton West Louisville Hospital! They learned all about exciting career opportunities in healthcare and even got to experience a day in the life of a healthcare professional using cutting-edge virtual reality (VR) headsets!

❄️ POLAR PLUNGE 🌊 | This weekend, the JCPS ECE Department and Ballard High School dove in for a great cause at the Special Olympics Polar Plunge!
The ECE Department raised an incredible $3,400 with 12 brave jumpers taking the plunge! Ballard High raised $1,500 and had 5 courageous souls brave the cold waters!
The event raised more than $197,000 for Special Olympics Kentucky! Thanks to Aaron Graves for helping capture the action! 📸



📚 BLACK HISTORY READ-IN | Southern High School students spread knowledge and kindness at Blake Elementary School yesterday! Dozens of National Honor Society and Sources of Strength members read powerful books about Black history, inspiring the younger students one story at a time!






🤖 TECH MEETS ALI'S LEGACY | Doss High School students explored technology through the lens of Muhammad Ali’s life and values today during the All That TECH: The Greatest Legacy! Students gained new skills, created projects centered on themes of courage and leadership, and discovered how technology can drive change! Thank you to TECH-Nique for bringing this engaging program to our students!





❄️ NTI DAY | Due to forecasted snow during the morning commute, JCPS will utilize a Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) Day on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. All athletic and extracurricular activities are canceled for Wednesday.

✈️ AVIATION DREAMS TAKE FLIGHT | Students in Atherton High School's Aerospace program got an exclusive, high-flying experience at UPS' training facility last week! Students got to try out the company's state-of-the-art flight simulators, getting a hands-on look at the world of aviation. Big thanks to UPS for this incredible opportunity!

💡 BLACK EXPO CAREER AND COLLEGE FAIR | J. Graham Brown School hosted an inspiring Black Expo Career and College Fair today! Students explored booths featuring Black professionals from more than 20 fields, including medicine, law, art, education, and more.
Students also led presentations about 20 historically Black colleges and universities. It was a day full of empowerment, knowledge, and endless possibilities!
