First Grade Teachers

Jill Antunez

Jill Antunez, Teacher

This is my 31st year teaching, and my 11th year at Norton Elementary. I have taught all grades 1st through 8th with the exception of 5th. Although I loved teaching every grade, first is definitely my favorite one to teach. I love seeing how much the students grow in reading and math at the first grade level. It's astounding! I love teaching at Norton! The staff, students, and parents are all so supportive. I'm married and have 3 grown children. One grandson and two more grandsons on the way. I also have 3 dogs that keep us busy at home. I love to bowl, bake, and spend time with my family.

Tiffany Brown

Tiffany Brown, Teacher

My name is Tiffany Brown and I have been teaching in JCPS for 26 years. I am married and have two children, Zach who is a freshman at UofL, and Aubrey who is a sophomore at Oldham County High. We also have a rescue furbaby named Duke. My daughter plays golf so we spend a lot of time on the golf course, we love going to the pool, and cheering on the Cards. Norton has such a great community where everyone feels like a big family and I am so lucky to be part of it!

Michelle Cothern

Michelle Cothern, Teacher

I have been a teacher with JCPS for 23 years and have taught kindergarten through third grade. Most of my career has been in kindergarten and first. I love seeing the growth the students make and the excitement on their faces when learning something new. I have a bachelors in education from Murray State University, a masters of education from Indiana Wesleyan and currently working on a LETRS endorsement for my rank1. This is my first year at Norton and I can already tell that it is a great place to be and I am excited to start a new school year with awesome students, families, and staff.

My husband and I have 2 children, Jacob and Kaylee, and one dog named Winnie. When I am not at school, I spend my time watching my son play basketball and my daughter cheer. We love to go on beach vacations and spending time together at the lake. I like to relax by going on walks, reading books, and shopping.

Erin Haas

Erin Haas, Teacher

I have been a teacher with JCPS for 19 years. I joined the first grade Norton team in 2020. One thing I enjoy most about teaching is watching each child grow as the school year progresses. I am proud to be a part of the Norton community. I have a Masters in Elementary Education with additional certification in literacy.

When I'm not at school I enjoy spending time with my husband and kids. I have a 15 year old daughter, Bennett, and a 12 year old son named Colten. We love spending time at the lake, cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats, and traveling. One of my favorite activities is taking our dog Sammy on a walk. I am lucky to be surrounded each day by the amazing students and staff at Norton Elementary.
