Newscast Process

The first thing we do to make our newcast "The Buzz" is we look in our story request form where people can fill out a form to tell us about a story they have in their classroom. Once we find our stories the script writers write our scripts. The reporter and anchor practice their lines using a chromebook as a teleprompter and record them. The camera crew counts down from 3 to 1, then points at them when it is time to start talking. For this episode we reported in our Assistant Principal's office and our green screen studio. We left the first clip green on purpose to be funny.

She always starts the newscast with the same opening line. Next we edit the videos on an iPad in an app called Do Ink Green Screen. We put in the picture of the news studio for the background. We found the background picture on Google and made sure it was a public domain image. The logo we designed for The Buzz goes on the front of the news desk. After we put the clips in Do Ink we add props from the Do Ink prop library. Then we put it into imovie. We use the News theme, transitions, titles, and music from the iMovie audio library. For the birthday slides, calendar slide, and menu slides, we use Canva. We take a screen capture of it and add it to iMovie, then add music from the iMovie soundtracks or do a voice over. We use Bluegrass Birthday, Playful, News, and Field Report from the iMovie audio library each week. Last, we add the newscast anchor and reporter names as titles on the videos. When it is finished, we upload the newscast into our drive then put it on the living calendar where teachers and their students can watch the newscast.
